Monday Smiles – 2/13/2012

Isn’t it interesting how we anticipate something for weeks, then it’s over in a wink?   My brother-in-law’s visit  was like that.   We talked.  We ate.  We toured Taliesen West.  We introduced him to our grandkids … he’d met Reed as a baby but not Maddux and Savy.  We ate.  We shopped and we talked some more.  We ate.  We went to Maddux’s flag football game, we ate dinner at Gordon Biersch Brewery, then watched a very sophisticated film, The Hangover Part II.  And before we knew it, it was early Sunday Morning and we were putting him on a plane back to Florida.

There’s nothing like a dose of grandkids to lift the malaise that can set in when a good time is over.  Sunday afternoon, we took the kids on a bike ride.  At our age what that means is that the grown-ups walk and the kids ride.  Welcome to the Tour de Gilbert.

It’s Monday.  I’m smiling.

You are so right about grandkids lifting our spirits. We crave time with ours, which is harder and harder to find as they grow older!

I think I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. It must be nearly impossible NOT to smile around those beautiful children. Their smiles are so easy and sincere! Their joy for life comes shining through their eyes, even in photos. No wonder they make you so happy.

You are so lucky to have grandchildren nearby. But you already knew that!
